Kampheng Pahtvisay takes us to the heart of the national protected area of Nam Et-Phou Louey in northern Laos. This area – an exceptional reservoir of biodiversity – is the setting for an innovative project which aims to involve residents in conservation, with a focus on ecotourism. For Kampheng Pahtvisay, as for many other villagers, there are numerous benefits: decline in deforestation and poaching, wildlife monitoring, but also economic benefits thanks to tourism and the reorientation of agriculture.

AFD has been supporting this project since 2014. Its operational implementation is being handled by the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) in partnership with the Government of Laos.
