In South Africa, a brand-new action has come into being: cow manure is being used. Sean Thomas, a South African entrepreneur, has set up a plant that produces biogas energy. In brief, rather than leaving methane and CO2 coming from the cattle pollute, this plant creates energy with it. In other words, 25,000 bovine animals work to create energy which is also greener. Sean Thomas is very pleased with this system which generates 4.4 to 6.9 MW and is sold on the domestic market afterwards. The 40,000 tons of manure will also be used as fertilizer on farms or for landscaping. Biogas is not only a clean energy, it also generates jobs.
