Agriculture and rural development

Agriculture is a social, economic, ecological and health issue. AFD works in agricultural sectors to promote inclusive and sustainable rural development and ensure food security for populations.
Biodiversity

To halt the decline in biodiversity and protect ecosystems, AFD supports the restoration and sustainable management of natural areas, with and for the benefit of populations, and integrates this dimension into all its actions.
Climate

Because climate change and development are urgently linked, the fight against climate change is a priority for AFD. What is our objective? To ensure that all our projects are 100% compatible with the Paris Agreement.
Crises and conflicts

The proliferation of crises and conflicts is giving rise to new issues that are holding back development. AFD intervenes in conflict prevention, during and after conflicts and is a key player in peacebuilding and the resilience of populations.
Water and sanitation

At the heart of the equilibrium of ecosystems and societies, water is an essential factor in biodiversity, health, gender equality and peace. We support the construction of infrastructure, the development of solutions based on sustainable development, and
Education for citizenship and international solidarity

The ECSI promotes the commitment of all citizens to a fairer, more united and sustainable world. AFD supports the initiatives of French civil society organisations in this field.
Education and training

Lifelong learning has a key role to play in keeping pace with the changes taking place in our societies. AFD supports equitable access to quality education, from primary to higher education, including vocational training.
Gender equality

To promote universal access to sustainable energy, AFD supports its partners' energy transition through diversified financing, tailored technical support and a vast network of partners.
