Published on

Bilateral consultations between the Government of Indonesia and Agence Française de Développement (AFD) Group were held on April 24, 2025, in Jakarta. Chaired by Indonesia's Ministry of National Development Planning (BAPPENAS), this meeting brought together 100 participants with the aim of strengthening the strategic partnership between Indonesia and AFD Group in support of sustainable development.
Both parties reaffirmed their shared commitment to deepening a collaboration initiated in 2007 and that is now firmly rooted in key sectors such as energy transition, sustainable transport, the blue economy, sustainable natural resource management, and green finance. According to Putut Hari Satyaka, Deputy Minister for Development Finance and Investment at BAPPENAS, “This meeting is more than just an event between our two countries. It is an opportunity for us to reflect, refocus and affirm a shared commitment to sustainable development through mutually beneficial strategic collaboration.”
For the past 18 years, AFD has supported Indonesia in its sustainable development efforts, with more than 60 projects financed to date and nearly €4 billion committed. Since 2019, 85% of the financing mobilized by AFD has contributed to the fight against climate change.
This meeting is part of the broader framework of Indonesia's recently adopted national plans: the 2025-2045 National Long-Term Development Plan (RPJPN) and the 2025-2029 Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN). These plans reflect the country's ambition to build a “Golden Indonesia” by 2045, drawing on solid partnerships with committed stakeholders such as AFD Group.
